Chapter 1

Cassie, Stacy, Christopher-John, and little man went to the house of Page Ellis and Ms. Lee Anne Lees with Papa. Soon they find out that TJ Avery is in jail for being acused of killing Mr. Barnett while robbing his store. Dube Cross comes and is given all the familys extra milk. The children went and started a game of marbles. Then Papa demanded his children to stop and give there winnings back because he thinks it could lead to gambling. Cassie goes against Papa and plays a secret marble game and she won the blue and green marble. Then papa found out and she got in trouble and had to give it back to little man.

    Well I mostly agree with what this says. If i were them i would include that Dube Cross would have to milk the cow for them and take what ever milk is left over.

    i think it is a good summary.... you pretty much stated wht happened in chapter 1 and you ddnt mention the non-important stuff... just all of the important stuff:)

    I think that this summary was really good. (: They shouldn't have accussed him of the crime, before they didn't even hear his side of the story. I couldn't have done any better. I think it named all of the important things and not anything that didn't belong there.

    They should really make some laws that allow black people to be treated more fairly. He was accused of something he didn't even do because he was black. This chapter summery was really good.

    now tht i read it a little more you could huave mentioned a couple more things and not just some stuff... there was more important stuff then wht u jus out... an di agree with ashley.. they ddnt kno the whole story so they shouldnt just accuse him of stuff especially if they know or kinna kno he ddnt do it.

    I think TJ was just accused of the killing and the robbery because, he was Black. Like that's not even cool. It was two other guys there, RW and Melvin Simms. They should have gotten a trial just as much as TJ. Just because he is black doesn't mean that he should have gone to court. The Simms brothers were just as guilty as he was. So yeahh. But I liked the summary. So....like good job.! 8')

    Cassie should have just stopped playing marbles like her father said because it wasn't a good idea to go against him. I think this is a good summary of chapter 1 because everything that is mentioned in the summary i remember reading.

    I like most of what I read here. There were some things left out you are correct. Thank you for mentioning the marbles Desiree. Why is that important?

    Also why is it that T.J. was the only one on trial when all three boys actually committed the crime of robbery? Shouldn't the other boys have been accused and convicted of at least that?

    You are right, there should have been more laws at that time against discrimination.
